Scott Brown
Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder

Scott brings 28 years of energy industry experience to Canes with strong backgrounds in commercial development, engineering, operations and management.  During his career Scott has held increasingly more responsible positions within public corporations, master limited partnerships and private equity backed companies beginning as a Plant Engineer in 1991 and most recently President in 2018.  Scott was President of Lucid I (predecessor to Cogent Midstream) where he had responsibility for all aspects of the company.  Prior to becoming President of Lucid I he was Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for Lucid I and Lucid II where he was responsible for all commercial activity for both entities that had a combined gathering and processing capacity during his tenure of more than 850 MMCFD in the rapid growth Delaware and Midland Basins of West Texas and New Mexico.  During his career he has successfully contracted with producer customers, managed downstream marketing, and managed assets from both an operational and profit/loss responsibility for gas gathering, processing, treating, compression and transmission; NGL gathering and transmission; and crude oil gathering assets in core producing areas including the Permian Basin (both conventional and non-conventional), Barnett Shale, Haynesville Shale, Texas Gulf Coast, Eagle Ford and production from offshore Louisiana and Texas.

Scott started his career with Warren Petroleum (formerly a division of Chevron) where he moved up from Plant Engineer to Operations Supervisor until Warren Petroleum was acquired by Dynegy in 1996 shortly after which he became manager of Business Development in Dynegy’s Houston office.  After leaving Dynegy in 2000 he moved up through the ranks of Cornerstone Propane, Crosstex Energy and lastly Energy Transfer Partners where he was Vice President of Business Development before leaving Energy Transfer and joining Lucid Energy Group in 2013.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tulsa and an MBA in Finance from the University of Houston.

Chad Choate
Chief Commercial Officer and Co-Founder

Chad brings 10 years of energy industry experience to Canes with a strong background in commercial development and management.  Chad was most recently Chief Commercial Officer and Co-Founder of Producers Midstream, LP where he led the commercial effort with producer customers to underwrite a multi-stream gathering system in Culberson County, Texas in the Delaware Basin.  Prior to Co-Founding Producers Midstream Chad served as Director of Business Development and M&A for Energy Transfer Partners.  He worked on over $50 billion in M&A transactions and was responsible for providing commercial leadership for capital investment in various midstream infrastructure projects, including securing revenue support for the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Chad holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and an MBA in Finance from the University of North Texas.

Robert Dunlap
Manager of Engineering

Robert brings a strong background in project execution and operations management to Canes. During his career he has built and operated produced water gathering and disposal, natural gas gathering and processing, and oil gathering assets. Most recently he was an operations/project engineer at San Mateo Midstream where he executed $93MM of capital projects and contributed to growing San Mateo from 70,000 bbl/d to 230,000 bbl/d of produced water gathering and disposal, 60 MMCFD to 245 MMCFD of gas gathering and processing, and 0 bbl/d to 35,000 bbl/d of oil gathering in the Delaware Basin. Prior to joining San Mateo Robert was an operations engineer for XTO Energy where he supported two 330 MMCFD amine gas plants, 15 compressor stations, and hundreds of miles of gas and water gathering pipeline.

Robert holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University.
